City Council

The City Council meets the first and third Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall, 1666 North Main Street. All meetings are televised live on Comcast Channels 28 and Channel 26 (Rossmoor) and on Astound Channel 29, and on AT&T U-Verse Channel 99. Meetings are repeated the following Saturday at 1 p.m. on both cable channels. The meeting broadcast is repeated in its entirety the following Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 6 p.m. on Comcast Channels 28 and 26 and on Astound Channel 29.

Attending Meetings and Addressing the Council/Commission

Anyone wishing to speak on an item listed on the agenda, or to bring up an item not listed, should fill out a Speaker Identification Form located at the back of the Council Chambers and hand it to the City Clerk / Commission Secretary before or during the meeting. The speaker card helps to ensure the accuracy of the record and makes it possible, if needed, for staff to follow up on issues raised.

The Mayor/Chair will call for speakers after the staff report is presented and prior to Council/Commission discussion for items listed on the agenda. Items not listed on the agenda will be heard under the Public Communications portion of the agenda. Under the Brown Act, the Council cannot act on items raised during public communications, but may respond briefly to statements made or questions posed; request clarification; or refer the item to staff.

Upon approaching the lectern, speakers should state their name for the record. Presentations should be clear and concise. Groups and organizations are asked to designate one spokesperson whenever possible. Speakers, whether an individual or group, are allowed 3 minutes to address the Council/Commission.
