Broadway and Mt Diablo Traffic Signal ImprovementsIn Progress

Description: Construction will begin for the traffic signal improvements at Broadway and Mount Diablo. This project will include the reconstruction of the existing curb ramp located at the south east corner of the intersection, pedestrian push button relocation, replacement of existing vehicle signal indications, CCTV camera relocation, installation of traffic signal video detection cameras, conduit installation, pull box installation and a complete traffic signal rewire.

Impacts: Lane closures will be required to perform the work. The Contractor will post pedestrian detours during sidewalk closures.  Contractor will post “No Parking” signs at least 48 hours prior to closure of parking spaces.  This project will also require a traffic signal shutdown to rewire the intersection. The traffic signal shutdown will occur in the evening/night. The date for the signal shutdown has not been determined.

 Rudgear Drive Retaining Wall Replacement

Dates: Begins June 2020

Description: A failing retaining wall adjacent to 134 Rudgear Drive is causing deterioration of the roadway.  The City of Walnut Creek has hired a contractor to complete the Rudgear Drive Retaining Wall project to remove and replace the retaining wall and repave the roadway.  The project is scheduled to start in June 2020 and take approximately 2 months to complete. Construction hours will be from Monday to Friday between the hours of 7 AM to 6 PM.

Impacts: A portion of Rudgear Drive, adjacent to 134 Rudgear Drive, will be reduced to a single lane of traffic for the duration of the project. During construction hours, a flagger will control access through the work area.  A two-way stop at each end of the work area will be established to maintain access when work is not taking place.  In some instances, the contractor may need to implement intermittent traffic stoppages for certain construction operations.  To keep everyone safe, please pay attention to the changing road conditions and adhere to all signage and verbal commands by the flaggers.
