Tice Median Project: IN PROGRESS

Description:

Contractors have been busy removing eucalyptus trees from the Tice Valley Boulevard Medians. Due to safety concerns, a total of 17 trees have been removed. The Eucalyptus trees were prone to falling during severe storms, and posed a fire hazard as we experience warm temperatures well into the fall season. This is the first phase of a project to revive the median. Over the next year, the irrigation system will be repaired and new landscaping will be installed, including the addition of over 110 trees. Furthermore, the new landscape plan will also be used to create a bio-retention area (rain garden), treating urban run-off before it enters the storm drain system.

Impacts: Lane closures on and off for the next several months.Project Manager: Rashad Colver (925) 943-5899 x2236

North Main Rehabilitation Project: COMPLETE

Description: The North Main Rehabilitation Project will repair and repave the roadway on North Main Street between N. California Boulevard and Penniman Way.  This project will also perform American with Disabilities Act (ADA) upgrades at curb ramp locations and repair damaged sidewalk within the project limits.I

Broadway and Mt Diablo Traffic Signal Improvements: ON HOLD

Dates: Project On Hold

Description: Construction will begin for the traffic signal improvements at Broadway and Mount Diablo. This project will include the reconstruction of the existing curb ramp located at the south east corner of the intersection, pedestrian push button relocation, replacement of existing vehicle signal indications, CCTV camera relocation, installation of traffic signal video detection cameras, conduit installation, pull box installation and a complete traffic signal rewire.

Impacts: Lane closures will be required to perform the work. The Contractor will post pedestrian detours during sidewalk closures.  Contractor will post “No Parking” signs at least 48 hours prior to closure of parking spaces.  This project will also require a traffic signal shutdown to rewire the intersection. The traffic signal shutdown will occur in the evening/night. The date for the signal shutdown has not been determined.
