How to Help Now

During this difficult time, the City of Walnut Creek is hearing from so many residents asking what they can do right now to help friends, family and strangers alike get through this period of sheltering at home.  While the usual path to volunteering and providing support may not be available, there is plenty people can do right now.

Join #CaliforniansForAll

The Governor's Office will match volunteers with a local high priority volunteer opportunity.

Stay in touch

Reach out and call a neighbor or friend who might need extra help or the gift of some conversation.

Donate Supplies

Donate protective equipment and supplies for local healthcare providers.

Give blood

The American Red Cross now faces a blood shortage due to an unprecedented number of blood drive cancellations. Healthy individuals are needed to donate blood now.

Feed those in need

The number of families in need of food has grown exponentially in recent weeks.  Consider helping these local organizations:
The Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano Counties saw a 50% increase in the number of families needing assistance in just the first 2 weeks of this event.
Monument Crisis Center is accepting donations of perishable and non-perishable food.
White Pony Express continues to operate its programs and needs volunteers and donations.
Meals on Wheels Diablo Region is delivering meals and other supplies, and providing friendly visitor phone calls.
Trinity Center services for members of our homeless community are vital now more than ever.  Consider buying a gift card from an open local restaurant and donating it to Trinity Center.

Support other non-profits

Like local businesses, many of our favorite non-profit organizations are now closed.  A financial contribution can help these important groups sustain their operations through this challenge.
