Electric Vehicles

Electric vehicles (EVs) are more affordable than ever. Save big with rebates, incentives, and tax credits when choosing a clean vehicle.

  • The Clean Vehicle Rebate Project promotes clean vehicles in California by offering rebates of up to $7,000 for the purchase of zero-emission vehicles, such as plug-in hybrid electric, electric, and fuel cell vehicles. Visit their website to learn about vehicle eligibility and more.

  • Clean Cars for All Program: Income qualified residents who own a model year 2004 or older vehicle can receive up to $9,500 to retire their old vehicle and purchase a new or used electric vehicle. Incentive options vary depending on income and zip code. Check to see if you are eligible for the Clean Cars for All program and apply HERE.

  • The Bay Area SunShares program opened for registration on August 1, 2019!    SunShares is a renewable energy program making it easier and more affordable for Bay Area residents to go solar or purchase an electric vehicle. SunShares offers a 15% discount on solar installation from vetted solar providers and a generous discount on select EVs. Plus, you can still take advantage of the Federal Solar Tax Credit. Registration closes on November 30, 2019!

  • The City of Walnut Creek and your local electricity provider, MCE, are proud to announce you may be eligible to save $3,500 on the purchase or lease of an EV. MCE’s generous rebate for low-income qualifying customers gives you a great deal on a cutting-edge new or used EV, especially when you combine it for up to $12,000 in total incentives. EVs are zero-emission vehicles that offer significant savings on fuel and maintenance costs and also reduce air pollution in your community. Learn more:

  • Federal Tax Credits for Electric Vehicles: Electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles purchased after 2010 may be eligible for a federal tax credit of up to $7,500. Visit the Department of Energy website to learn more.
