Summer Camps - Seasonal Opportunities

Summer Camp Staff 2016The Recreation Division is seeking energetic individuals who want to have fun this summer! Opportunities are available for Recreation Leaders* and Senior Recreation Leaders to support Day Camp programs for youth and the Specialized Recreation Summer Camp for youth and adults with special needs. 

Recreation Leaders work 15-30 hours a week, and Senior Recreation Leaders work up to 38 hours a week, depending on experience, personal availability, program and attendance. Leaders direct games, arts & crafts, songs, and trips.

Aquatics - Seasonal and Year Round Opportunities

LifeguardLove swimming and want to work in a fun, interactive environment? We are looking for Lifeguards and Lead Lifeguards and/or Swim Instructors to join our team!

The City operates two Aquatic Facilities; Clarke Memorial Swim Center, located in Heather Farm Park and the newly renovated Larkey Swim Center, located in Larkey Park. Seasonal and year round part time employment opportunities available. We accept American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificates or Ellis & Associates International Lifeguarding Certificates. Candidates must enjoy the water, being outdoors,and interacting with children and adults alike.

Additional Year Round Opportunities

Gym & Building Attendants

Part-time Gym Attendants ensure the overall safety, health and welfare of all individuals participating in programming and using the recreation facilities and services for the City. Programs may include but are not limited to gym rentals, birthday parties, indoor play, programs and events. Executes the setup, clean up and breakdown of programs, events and activities.

Part-time Building Attendants provide supervision of community centers for rental groups and assist with set up and take down of chairs, tables, and equipment, and custodial services.

Coaches for After School Sports

The City Of Walnut Creek is looking for coaches for its after-school intramural and competitive sports programs at Foothill Middle and Walnut Creek Intermediate School. Coaches are needed for girls’ volleyball September-October, girls' and boys’ basketball from November through March, and for boys’ volleyball and co-ed golf coaches from March through May. Each sport runs approximately 6-8 weeks. Minimum age requirement: 18 years.
