Teach Your Child About Music and Rhythm

Did you know singing in tune and keeping a beat are learned skills? Just like learning to talk or learning to walk, children learn these things informally from the grown-ups around them. Join other parents/adult caregivers and babies, toddlers or preschoolers and enjoy a weekly outing to learn about rhythm, music, and dance. Walnut Creek Recreation has been working with the award-winning program, Music Together, for many years. Parents and children alike are excited about the program.

Featuring classes on weekdays (morning and evening), as well as weekends, Music Together gives all parents a chance to spend quality time with their little ones and help them learn through music.

Additionally, the program provides a songbook and recordings to continue the fun at home. You and your child will have a chance to play with age-appropriate instruments, see the teacher play violin/ukulele/piano and meet a community of other parents with young children. The Music Together program offers all of this in weekly 45-minute classes designed based on research done on how very young children learn music.

New this January! We are adding a Rhythm Kids program for ages 4 to 7 yrs using the djembe drum, played with bare hands, originally from West Africa, to learn to keep a beat and some basic rhythmic vocabulary.
