In response to the Contra Costa Health Services order to cease non-essential operations and gatherings in order to limit community exposure to COVID-19, all City buildings are closed until further notice.
The following outdoor recreation facilities have reopened: Boundary Oak Golf Course, Heather Farm Tennis Center, tennis & pickleball courts in various parks, Disc Golf at Walden Park, Heather Farm Skate Park, Heather Farm Dog Park. Full info and guidelines available at walnut-creek.org/coronavirus.
All playgrounds remain closed. All parks and open space are currently open. Please respect social distancing recommendations when visiting our parks.

The City of Walnut Creek has 16 parks spread throughout the City as well as over 3,000 acres of Open Space.
Picnic Rentals are available at Heather Farm Park and Larkey Park while other parks have picnic areas on a first-come, first-serve basis.

NOTE: Ball fields 3-6 are closed every Thursday for maintenance from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Ball fields 1 and 2 are closed for maintenance every Wednesday from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and closed for refurbishment March through April.
Booking a Group Picnic Area
There are several ways you can book a group picnic area and obtain a permit. Reserved picnics are available up to 120 days in advance. If your chosen picnic date is more than 120 days away, you will not be able to book your picnic. Also, picnic areas must be booked at least five days prior to the event date.
If your picnic date is within 120 days and more than five days away, you may check availability and book an available date one of four ways:
- In person at the Heather Farm Community Center, 301 N San Carlos Drive (9am-4pm, M-F)
- By phone at (925) 943-5858 (9am-4pm, M-F)
- Via email at Recreation@walnut-creek.org (availability only)

Dogs: Dogs may be off-leash in the dog park at the north end of the park. In all other areas of the park, dogs must be on leash. Dogs are not allowed on the ball fields.

Weekends & Holidays - 8 am - 8 pm (or sunset)
Closed every Tuesday from 7 am - noon, for regular maintenance.
