Get off the couch (or out of the car) and get healthy with "Walnut Creek Walks."
Walnut Creek Walks promotes walking as a pathway to good health. There are four components to Walnut Creek Walks:
Second Saturday Walks with the Mayor – Mayor Bob Simmons will lead the public in a walk the second Saturday of the month throughout his mayoral term. These walks will occur in various locations throughout Walnut Creek. Click for details.
Open Space Adventurer Program – This program is open to Walnut Creek children through 5 grade. To qualify as an Open Space Adventurer, participants visit all four Walnut Creek Open Space areas and take a class hosted by either the Open Space division or the Lindsay Wildlife Museum. Click to learn more.
Walking Meetings with the Mayor – Why sit at a table when you can take a walk? Mayor Bob Simmons encourages those who wish to meet with him to consider having a "walking meeting." To meet with the mayor, call the City Manager's office at (925) 256-3504.
Walnut Creek Walks Challenge -- Make every step count! Use our online program to set up a walking log, then watch your miles grow. Set individual goals, or create a walking group and invite your friends. Once a month, we'll tally all the miles to see how far we've come as a community. Special recognition for those reaching milestones of 100, 500 and 1,000 miles walked. Check out the online registration system or click here for more information.
