Join us for a “behind the scenes” exploration of Walnut Creek
Each month, the Second Saturday Spotlight will "shine" on a new subject. Sessions are from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. the second Saturday of the month through November 2013, and will include hands-on demonstrations and guided tours. Please pre-register so we know how many people to expect! Registration for each Spotlight will open four weeks in advance. JULY SPOTLIGHT
Backstage Tour at the Lesher Center for the Arts - Saturday, July 13 Registration now open DESCRIPTION: Join the Mayor and go "behind the curtain" at the Lesher Center for the Arts and the Bedford Gallery. See the dressing room where Bob Hope prepared for the Center's Opening Night, check out the piano "refrigerator" and the Hoffman Stage fly tower. Discover the origins of the name "Green Room" (hint: the Green Room is rarely green) and see how computers are deployed to make lighting and sound magic. The tour will end at the Bedford Gallery for a special look at the "Larger than Life" exhibition.
DETAILS: The program starts promptly at 9 a.m. in the downstairs lobby at the Lesher Center for the Arts, corner of Civic and Broadway. Check-in will be on the "porch" in front of the main Lesher Center entrance, and will begin at 8:30 a.m. Parking is available at the North Locust Garage (next door to the Lesher Center) for 50 cents an hour. Free parking is available at Civic Park, approx. 2 blocks away. Wear comfortable shoes, as the tour includes walking up and down stairs; accommodations will be made for those who have difficulty with stairs.
Registration is now open for the July 13 Spotlight tour of the Lesher Center for the Arts and the Bedford Gallery!
