| Registration for the class starting in February is full! Please note that there is a $20 CERT program fee payable the first day of class. Graduates of this program are sworn in as Disaster Service Worker Volunteers for the City.  To be added to the interest list: E-mail CERT@walnut-creek.org with your home phone number, and home address. You will be contacted when new classes are available. Learn how to prepare for any disaster, including terrorism, and what safety actions to take during the disaster. | | Tuesday, Feb. 9 Session 2: Basic Disaster Skills PLUS Introduction to FRS (Family Radio System) Learn about different types of fires and how to use a fire extinguisher. Also, how to shut off gas and electricity, and what kinds of hazardous materials to look out for. | | Tuesday, Feb. 16 Session 3: Disaster Medical Operations, Part 1 Disaster Psychology. How to conduct triage and treat the "3 Killers" (opening airways, stopping bleeding and treating shock). Hands-on exercise. Health considerations for the rescuer; caring for minor injuries and burns.
