Long range planning is policy-driven planning for the future that directs and manages growth and conservation.
State law requires that cities prepare general plans and regularly review and update them. The City of Walnut Creek's General Plan 2025 was adopted on April 4, 2006. As part of the process, significant community participation and input was sought. General Plan 2025 is a broad blueprint for the future of Walnut Creek with goals, policies, and actions through 2025.
In addition, the City has developed many specific plans, which focus on smaller geographic areas.
