Free emergency preparedness workshop
Join the City's Emergency Preparedness Team on Tuesday, Aug. 25 for a free, interactive workshop on what you and your family can do to be better prepared for disaster. Learn how to make a family emergency plan, how to build an emergency kit, and how and when to shut off the gas after an earthquake.

"The Streets of Saranap" focus on next Walnut Creek Walk
Join Walnut Creek Mayor Bob Simmons on walk through the Saranap neighborhood on Saturday, August 8. Saranap is a treasure trove of history. One of the streets is named after the original Spanish land grant, others hearken back to the early families who settle there ... even the name "Saranap" has an intriguing back story. Meet above the fountain at the intersection of California and Mt Diablo boulevards for a 9 a.m. departure. This walk is a little less than 4 miles in length. For additional information, go to  
Roadwork ahead! 53 Walnut Creek streets to be resurfaced
Resurfacing of 53 City streets with slurry seal will begin July 21 and extend through the week of August 3. Expect traffic delays and street closures when work is in progress. Residents will receive a notice and/or door hanger the week before resurfacing begins. For a Google map of streets to be resurfaced, including dates of resurfacing, click here. Survey asks community for input regarding body-worn cameras
The Walnut Creek Police Department is considering the benefits, challenges and issues surrounding the use of body-worn cameras for patrol personnel. Please take a brief Open Town Hall survey to share your thoughts about body-worn cameras. Click here for survey.  
Energy efficiency rebates for businesses, commercial property
The City of Walnut Creek has launched the "Walnut Creek Energy Champion" rebate program with rebates of up to $2,500 to help commercial property and business owners become more energy efficient. To be eligible for the rebate, businesses must first complete the Business Energy Services Team (BEST) Program, which offers its own rebate.  More...
