  Walnut Creek Day Camp and Sports Camp

The Recreation Division is seeking energetic individuals who want to have fun this summer. As a Recreation Division employee, you will gain knowledge and develop skills in leadership, public relations, conflict resolution, safety awareness and teamwork, while building lifelong friendships. Job experience is not always necessary, but applicants must display a good work ethic, sense of teamwork, and a willingness to help strengthen our community and foster human development through the exciting field of recreation.

We offer six different Day Camp programs for children. Leaders direct games, arts & crafts, songs, and trips.
Accepting applications from January 3, 2011 through, March 11th or until filled. As of Friday, March 11th we are no longer acceting applications for open positions in our summer Day Camp programs.
Training Week for all Staff June 13-17

Camp Tenderfoot
Ages 3-5
June 20 – August 12
Held at Heather Farm Community Center.
Monday – Thursday
9:30 am – 12:00 am.
Camp Little Walnut
Ages 4-6
June 20 – August 12
Held at Foothill Middle School. Monday – Friday
9:00 am - 11:30 pm
Walnut Creek Day Camp
Ages 6-12
June 20 – August 12
Held at Bancroft Elementary

Monday – Friday
7:00 am - 6:00 pm.
Shifts are 4-9 hours daily and schedules are made weekly
A.A.A. Camp
Ages 5-13
June 20-July 22
Held at Walnut Creek  Intermediate
This camp provides morning and afternoon care for the City’s Civic Art’s Education summer school.
Monday – Friday
7:00 – 9:30 a.m. and
12 noon – 6:00 p.m.
Heather Farm Adventures
Ages 6-10
June 20 – August 12
Held at Heather Farm Park

Monday – Friday
1:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
 
Sports Mini-Camp
Ages 9-13
June 20 – August 19
Held at Foothill Middle School.
Monday – Friday
7:00 am – 6:00 pm
Shifts are 4-9 hours daily and schedules are made bi-weekly

Recreation Leader
15 years and older
$9.00 - $10.00 hr.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Sr. Leaders in organizing and leading activities
  • Active participation in all activities, trips and swim days
  • Provide for safety of children
  • Initiate interaction with children
  • Other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • One year of volunteer or paid experience with children
  • One year of completed high school education
  • Ability to engage in physical activity
  • CPR & First Aid Certification desirable
  • Ability to work at a number of different sites throughout the city

Senior Recreation Leader
18 years and older
$11.75 - $12.75 hr

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and organize activities for assigned site
  • Supervise children and provide for their safety
  • Enthusiastically lead activities and set example for Recreation Leaders
  • Maintain attendance records and provide written reports upon request
  • Interact with parents and staff to create a cohesive working team

Requirements:

  • Two years paid work experience in a day or resident camp setting
  • Ability to engage in physical activity
  • CPR & First Aid certification desirable
  • Ability to work at a number of different sites throughout the city.
