I am Lt. Lanny Edwards and welcome to the Sector 3 portion of the Walnut Creek Police Department's Web Site. Sector 3 is generally referred to as “the valley” of Walnut Creek and is the largest of the three sectors. It encompasses the area from the edge of downtown to the city of Concord on the north and east sides and County territory on the south side.

From a policing standpoint, Sector 3 offers many challenges. The sheer size of the sector and the volume of traffic on Ygnacio Valley Road at various times can pose some issues. We also patrol the Open Space land, Heather Farm Park, the many businesses in the Shadelands, the shopping centers at Countrywood, Encina Grande, Ygnacio Plaza, and Citrus Center, and the schools such as Foothill Middle School, Berean Christian, and Northgate High School. Sector 3 is quite diverse and offers the public a number of places to shop, dine, and visit.
