Acalanes Court Affordable HousingWelcome to the Walnut Creek Housing Division

The City of Walnut Creek's Housing Division administers housing programs for low- and moderate-income renters, first-time homebuyers, and homeowners. The City's wide array of programs includes rehabilitation loans and grants, downpayment assistance loans, an inventory of affordable rental units for families and seniors, and affordable for-sale units provided through the Inclusionary Housing Program.

Our mission is to create, preserve and improve a range of housing opportunities and supportive programs serving an economically diverse community.


Announcements

Affordable Units at Pleasant Creek Homes by Habitat for Humanity: Habitat for Humanity is currently marketing 8 low- and very low- income ownership units at the upcoming Pleasant Creek Homes development on Barkley Avenue near downtown Walnut Creek. There will be 2-, 3-, and 4-bedroom units available. In order to apply, interested parties must attend one of the upcoming orientations at the Civic Park Community Center Assembly Hall. Orientation meetings are scheduled for Saturday, February 4 and Saturday, February 11 from 10am - 12pm at 1375 Civic Drive. Affordable Unit For Sale at The Montecito:  A one-bedroom, one bath below-market rate unit  is available at The Montecito in downtown Walnut Creek. The unit is affordable to eligible low-income first time homebuyers. View the  sales flyer for more information.

Six affordable homes for sale at Walden Park: Through the City's Inclusionary Housing Program, KB Homes is offering six affordable below-market rate homes for sale in the new condominium development, Walden Park. The units are all three-bedroom units with the sales price of $340,000. To be eligible, applicants must be first time homebuyers and have a total household income that does not exceed 120% of area medium income. New Energy Efficiency Home Improvement Loans Available!  Through the federal Energy Efficiency Block Grant Program, the City of Walnut Creek has made available a pool of funds for low and moderate income homeowners who would like to reduce energy costs by making energy efficiency improvements.  Eligible improvements include window replacements, furnace and water heater replacement, roofing, insulation, energy efficient appliances and more.  In addition, you may earn rebates on the work from Energy Upgrade California.  For more information, click on the website: energyupgradeca.org.  If you are interested in receiving an application to see if you qualify for a deferred, low interest loan, please call 925-335-7233. 

Updated Inclusionary Housing Ordinance and In Lieu Fee Resolution
In October, 2010, the City Council adopted revisions to the City's  Inclusionary Housing Ordinance and  In-Lieu Fee Resolution, including recessionary relief measures. The revisions to ownership and rental impact fees are based on a Residential Nexus Analysis performed by Kaiser Marsten Associates.

Rental Assistance Now Available!
Rental Assistance is now available for families or individuals who are having difficulty maintaining their current rental housing or have lost their housing due to the current state of the economy. The Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP) is a federally funded program through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, and is administered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). For more information download the HPRP program summary, and one of the following as it applies to you: Homeless Prevention Program (for residents in jeopardy of losing their current rental housing); or Rapid Re-Housing Program (for residents who are currently homeless and lost their housing within the last 18 months)

Are you having trouble paying your mortgage? Are you at risk of foreclosure, or currently in the foreclosure process? For information and assistance, contact the Homeownership Preservation Foundation's hotline at 1-888-995-HOPE.
