  Park, Recreation and Open Space Commission

The Park, Recreation and Open Space Commission (PROS) is established by the City Council to assist the Council in determining the general direction and emphasis of the City's park, recreation and open space needs. The Commission will advise the Council in developing reasonable standards and policies for facilities development, program services and facilities usage.

Meetings
The PROS Commission meets at 7:00 p.m. on the first Monday of every other month in the Council Chamber, City Hall, 1666 N. Main Street, Walnut Creek. 

The next meeting will be Monday, February 6, 2012.

  • Commission Duties

    The City of Walnut Creek Park, Recreation and Open Space Commission acts in an advisory capacity to the City Council regarding the park, open space and recreation needs of the City. The Commission prepares, adopts and recommends to the City Council reasonable standards and policies for park, open space and recreation facilities development, program services, facility usage and other related matters. The Commission reviews and makes recommendations to the City Council on the design and plans of park, open space and recreation facilities. The Commission reviews all tentative subdivision maps and makes recommendations to the Planning Commission and City Council on the application of the City’s Park Land Dedication Ordinance. The Commission reviews the short and long-term capital improvement needs of the park, open space and recreation programs.
