  Downtown Parking Task Force

The goal of the task force is to “make parking work in Downtown Walnut Creek” by creating a comprehensive parking management plan that reflects the diverse needs of residents, businesses and visitors.

The Task Force concluded its meetings on November 16 and presented its recommendations to a joint study session of the City Council and the Transportation Commission at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17 in the 3rd floor conference room at City Hall. Click here for details.

Task force members on Oct. 20, 2009 identified the following strategies for "making parking work" and formulated recommendations for each strategy:

  • Effective use of garages (private and public)
  • Successful management of employee parking
  • Effective inventory management
  • Effective communication about downtown parking options through outreach, marketing and signage
  • A plan for residents
  • Effective alternative modes of getting around downtown
