There are five City Council members. They are elected at large for 4-year, staggered terms; elections are held in November of each even-numbered year. To learn more about individual Council members, click here. Council meetings are held the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall, 1666 North Main Street. For an agenda of the next meeting, click here. All Council meetings are televised live over Comcast Channels 28 and Channel 26 (Rossmoor), on Astound Channel 29, and on AT&T U-Verse Channel 99. The meeting broadcast is repeated in its entirety the following Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 6 p.m. on Comcast Channels 28 and 26 and on Astound Channel 29.

City Council Streaming Video (Live and Archived Meetings) How to Participate in City Council Meetings The public may address the City Council on all items on the agenda. For each item, the Mayor will call for speakers after the staff report is presented and prior to Council discussion. If you wish to address to City Council at those times, fill out a speaker's card (by the entry door of the Council chamber) and give it to the City Clerk before the item is called.
The public may also speak about items not on the agenda during the Public Communications portion of the meeting. Again, fill out a speaker's card and give it to the City Clerk.
To ensure equal treatment of all speakers, the following time limits are in effect: - Public Communications:
- 3 minutes for all speakers
- Public Hearings, Appeals, Council Considerations:
- 15 minutes for applicants/appellants
- 10 minutes for an organized presentation by a group spokesperson
- 3 minutes for individual speakers
- 5 minutes for rebuttal by applicant/appellant
Redevelopment Agency Members of the City Council meet as the Redevelopment Agency on the first Tuesday of February, May, August and November at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall. The Agency was organized to study areas of the City for the purpose of developing projects to eliminate blight and to achieve desirable and development and changes in land use in designated redevelopment areas. This is done to improve the City's economic health, employment opportunities and tax base. |
