Downtown Farmers' Market
Community - Event
The downtown Farmers Market is on North Locust between Civic and LaCassie. Be sure to stop by the City Council booth to chat with a council member. Hours are 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. until May; starting in May, hours will be extended until 2 p.m. through November. For more information, visit the Contra Costa Farmers' Market website.

Celebrate Earth Day with the Walnut Creek Open Space
Community - Event
Lots of activities are planned throughout the Open Space on Sunday, April 22, beginning at 9 a.m.

9:00 - noon--work projects (registration required)

1. Sugarloaf Open Space, 2161 Youngs Valley Court--transplant native plants and creek clean-up

2. Howe Homestead, 2950 Walnut Boulevard--creek and community garden clean-up, create watering wells around trees

3. Shell Ridge, 1035 Castle Rock Road--mulching, planting and erosion control

noon - 1:30 -- picnic at Hanna Grove in Shell Ridge (registration required)

Bring your picnic basket; the City will provide beverages and dessert!

3:00 - 4:00 -- Nature Activities at Howe Homestead (registration required)

Games and crafts are planned for children ages 6 to 12

7:00 - 9:00 -- Campfire Program at Sugarloaf (NO registration required)

Join in the staff-led, old fashioned campfire program under the stars. Stories, songs, surprises and, of course, s'mores!

Ruth Bancroft Garden Celebrates Earth Day

The Ruth Bancroft Garden celebrates its 40th anniversary with a year of special events. Highlights this spring include free succulents to the first 50 visitors on Earth Day!
