Arts, Adventures & Academics Summer Camp is the place to be for 3rd & 4th graders! Every day the kids will have the opportunity to work together on fun, imaginative projects, create work that encourages innovation and experimentation, and participate in all kinds of outdoor activities and fun trips – all lead by well-trained, enthusiastic and caring staff members who love kids!

Art Art Art - How does an artist “see” the world? Sharpen your “artist” eyes as you use lots of different materials and learn to draw, paint and sculpt in fresh, inventive ways. The Sound of Music gives children a chance to explore and experience the building blocks of music by learning the basic systems for understanding melody and rhythm. Additionally, students will get an opportunity to learn rounds, part music, and pop tunes using their singing voices and various percussion instruments. Culture Vultures - Delve into books to explore the world without leaving Walnut Creek! You and your fellow travelers will discover interesting facts about our global neighbors that will inspire you to write your own stories and create new exciting visual art. Each week we will investigate a new neighbor and make discoveries about habits, customs, food, games and traditions. ELECTIVES: You will prioritize the following choices and be scheduled for one set of electives:
Option 1
A-Z Cooking ($10.00 lab fee) - Learn to prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner for family and friends with basic cooking techniques, meal planning and kitchen saftey.

Clay and Stuff ($10.00 lab fee) - Mush, squish and form exciting 2 & 3D projects out of clay, paper pulp, wire and wood. Explore the world of shapes and textures as you create useful and fun objects.
Option 2
Creative Cooking ($10.00 lab fee) - Learn the art of cooking, planning and preperation that will start you on the road to become a culinary expert. Learn to amaze and entertain family and friends.

Magic of the Mask - Making and performing in masks isn't as simple as it sounds. There's a magic in the movement, writing and in the creative process that will inspire you to look at mask performance in a whole new way! Join us to be part of this magical journey.
Option 3
Let's get Physical - Want a little action? Try this dynamic class. Get physical with some challenging obstacle courses and drills. Learn and play some new games and enjoy some well-loved classics.

Expedition Endangered - From Albatross to Whales, many of the worlds animals are in danger of extinction. Take a virtual field trip around the world to find out how and why animals are threatened. How does an animal get on the endangered species list? Why do we care about endangered species? Art projjects will be based on species that the class discuss and explore.
