Cartooning for Homeschoolers

Learn the basic drawing skills needed to create cartoon characters and stories. Expressive faces and bodies in action will be explored, along with creative viewpoints and settings. Learn the skills that are the foundation of successful cartooning.  Media include pencil, pen & ink, brush painting, markers and watercolor. Repeating students will have opportunity to create and work on projects with instructor.

Creative Writing for Homeschoolers

Whether you consider yourself a young author or not, you’ll have tons of fun talking about the stories of our lives and writing them so they come out on paper. Create small pieces of writing (stories, poems, word collages) that matter to you, which you can keep forever. Open to students at all levels of writing. Working with a public school writing specialist, strengthen skills and work in an environment that is fun and relaxed....feel inspired!

Returning!  Hands-On Art History : Modern Art

In our return of this class come explore the art of Picasso, Van Gogh, Franz, O’Keefe, Chagall, Kahlo and other fantastic artists in the fun, imaginative and very ‘hands-on’ class. Create your own works of art in the style particular to Impressionism, printmaking, Pop Art, Found Sculpture and Found Object Art. Each session create a particular art piece using tools and mediums that the artists used such as oil paint (waterbased), watercolors, plaster, clay, recycled materials and more.

Intro to Acting and Improvisation

Be silly, be creative, be dramatic! Develop acting skills as you have fun playing theatre games, creating scenes and performing skits for one another. Creativity and self-expression will be emphasized as you work on ensemble-building, characterization and presentation skills. Basic scene work will be introduced in this class. An informal presentation for friends and family will be scheduled for the last class.

Drawing & Painting Studio

For children who have had some drawing and painting experience and are interested in learning more about design skills such as line, shape, form, color, composition, etc. This is a great place to start or refine skills. A variety of materials: pen, colored pencil, conte crayon, tempra & watercolor paint, and collage. A good foundation for intermediate painting and drawing classes. (Completion of Paint Box or a similar art class recommended).

Recorder 101 for Homeschoolers

The recorder is an end blown woodwind instrument that is a great introduction to wind playing! Learn basic music reading skills while learning to play fun songs like ‘Mary Had a Little Lamb’, ‘Ode to Joy’, ‘Jingle Bells’ and many more. Supply fee: $15 payable in class includes book and recorder.

Recorder Ensemble for Homeschoolers

For homeschool students that have either taken Recorder 101 or have learned basic reading skills and songs on their own. Continue working on music reading skills and also start learning scales and arpeggios. Learn songs as a group with a concentration on playing more duets, trios and quartets. Supply fee: $10 payable in class for music.
