Electives
Electives are single classes that allow our 5th -9th grade campers to explore different areas.  Campers will prioritize 8 choices and be scheduled for 6 electives.  There are many different options for many different interests. 

Sports and Games
Want a little action? Try this dynamic class. Get physical with some challenging obstacle courses and drills. Learn and play some new games and enjoy some well-loved classics.

That’s Entertainment
Learn fun new skills for putting some zip in your summer. Magic tricks, juggling, the latest and most popular games are back to teach you how to dazzle your friends and family with new skills. This class rocks!!!

Mosaic Madness ($10.00 lab fee)
From trivets to totems, use multi media mosaic techniques to create colorful, unique objects. Decorate your room! Make great gifts for friends and family! Or, just have fun!!   


Ceramics ($10 lab fee)
Clay, clay, clay! Handbuild, carve, decorate and glaze. Learn and use lots of different techniques to create animals, containers, birdhouses, masks and more - all in clay.

Leather, Hobbies & Games
Make cool stuff that kids really dig!!! Create your own small leather items using a variety of techniques. The fan favorite “Magic Leather Wallet” will be back. Create wood projects including; bird houses, race cars and balsa wood planes that we will fly in a class contest. Some cool fun games will be included. For new or returning students.

Creative Writing -  Explore writing in ways you may never have thought !  Each day we will discover your creativity, even if you think there is none to be found.  Short fiction and poetry ideas will be investigated.

Improvisation
 Come and play, discover the fundamentals of improvisational comedy, improve your storytelling skills, learn techniques to think quickly on your feet and to be more creative.  This spirited, fun course is designed for the actor or comedian who wants to learn the essentials of good scenic improvisation or anyone who wants to improve their teamwork or communication skills.  

Theatre Games- Wanna laugh?  Come and play famous theatre games and exercises where the focus is fun and trying new things!  We will be getting up on our feet and moving, acting in improvisations, and using theatre games to get to know each other and ourselves.

Musical Theatre
One of AAA’s favorite classes. Sign up early! Study acting, movement and singing. Use your newly polished skills to prepare and perform.

Stage Combat- Learning the basics of stage combat: how to fall, punch, slap, push, strangle, drag and many more moves necessaryto make combat on stage real and most importantly be executed safely.

This year our new  science teacher brings fun into the class.   You learn basic science concepts with a hands on  style that will get you jazzed about science.

Backyard Science- Discover the science all around us, build a aqurarium, capture the energy from the sun, build habitats for endangered native species and more!

Cool Science for Curious Kids -
Did you know that there are tiny spider-like creatures living on your eyebrows? Have you ever wondered about the human body?  Are you interested in dissecting a frog?  If these questions interest you, Cool Science for Curious Kids is the class for you.
 

Everyday Experiments - From Chemistry to Physics and Biology to Geology, we will tackle a different experiment every day.  Experiments include; Making a soda bottle geyser, making lemonade without a single lemon and grossing out your friends by making fake snot!

Sing Out! - A Class on the basics of singing and musicality necessary to sing as a soloist and part of a group.  Techniques in phrasing, breathing, articulation and of course SINGING!  Join us as we sing our way through popular musical theatre songs. 

Star Steps - Learn the basics of dance for musical theatre through classical musical theatre songs.  Box step and grapevine aren't the only skills you'll learn. Secrets of the trade will be exposed to help you have "Star Steps"

World Celebrations - Come explore different countries, cultures, and traditions around the world through art, food, music, and language. This class will expand students’ interest in geography by celebrating similarities and difference from people around the world.

Summer Spanish- Language and Culture - During this introductory Spanish class, students will learn basic Spanish conversation through art, music, games, and activities. Students will also learn more about countries that speak Spanish and their interesting cultural traditions.

The Art of Cooking ($10 lab fee)- Catch the culinary bug by learning to cook. Cooking is an artistic endeavor, a cooking recipe, in most cases, can be adjusted, substituted and flipped upside down - the result will still be palatable.  Learn about garnishing food to make your meals into an artistic endeavor. Food presentation,Hors d'oeuvre and meal planning will be covered


Baking From Scratch ($10 lab fee)  -  Baking involves yeast, flour, sugar and salt, to create a  culinary chemistry experiment that  will  have a yummy outcome. Cupcakes, quick breads, sweet stuff and even pasta will be explored! All without using a box mix. Learn to follow baking recipes and create delicious baked goods the scratch way!

Drawing and Painting - Learn essential drawing and painting techniques to create portfolio-worthy artworks. Explore different mediums; oil pastel, charcoal, watercolor, as well as acrylics to find and develop your own unique style. For beginning as well as returning students.

Fashion Drawing- Learn about designing your own fashion line, create renderings to display your designs and sharpen your illistration skills.

Character Design Studio - Design and create your very own imaginative and unique characters inspired by movies and video games.  From drawings to 3D models, watch your ideas come to life. Students will be encouraged to pick a favorite character, fine tune it and create a story line for a comic. Students will also learn basic story telling for comics.

Cartooning Workshop - Learn everything you need to know about cartooning from characters design to creative writing and brainstorming.  Create every type of comic, humorous gags to graphic novels. Let this class be the forum through which we create the next famous comic book!  If you have all sorts of creative ideas for comics this is the class for you.

Lets Make Movies - Don't just watch movies, make your own! From story developement to the finished DVD, this fun-filled class helps you with every step needed to produce your own original short movie. Incliding: scripts, acting, directing, HD cameras, sound, editing special effects, online streaming.  Final projects may be shown on WCTV!
And the Oscar goes to....


PJ's and B - ($10.00 lab fee) Sewing and Crocheting - Need a warm scarf or beanie for this upcoming winter? This class will teach students how to do basic crochet knots in order to create homemade scarfs or beanies. Along with crocheting, students will create their own designs and hand stitch cell phone/ipod cases with personalized embroidery. Students with imagination, creativity, and design welcome, no need from prior experience!

Stained Glass ($10 lab fee) -
Careful its glass!  We are going to learn to design, cut, grind, copper foil, and solder awesome stained glass projects, in a safe and fun way.  This class will cover the transformation of raw materials into glass, the properties that makes glass different colors, and explore the etching process.  Come experience the wonderful world of glass art!

 
Fused Glass ($10 lab fee)- Molten glass firing in a kiln is how we will make great projects in this class. You will be layering glass and working from original drawings that will spark your creativity and grow as an artist. Learn to make sun catchers, night lights, plates, jewelry.

Math Mayhem: Games and Fun!  This is not your typical math class. In Math Mayhem, students will apply math to real-life situations including baseball statistics, price is right games, coupon hunting games, and are even given their very own checking account to spend money responsibly on their dream lifestyle! Math comes alive in this fun yet practical class.
