  Managing Waste and Recycling
Clean Water Home Best Management Practices Home
Proper waste management protects the environment and can save you some money.
  • Look for ways to prevent waste. Buy materials in bulk sizes to reduce packaging materials.
  • Before you dispose of something, see if you can use or recycle it instead.
  • Keep the following out of your dumpster: liquid wastes, asbestos and any hazardous materials. When in doubt, contact the Central Contra Costa Solid Waste Authority.
  • Compost plant wastes and yard clippings. Contact the Central Contra Costa Solid Waste Authority for composting classes.
  • Recycle extra household hazardous materials (such as oil-based paints, pesticides, fertilizers, solvents, batteries) at designated collection facility. Contact Central Contra Costa Sanitary District for more information.
  • Never dump wastes of any kind down a storm drain.
Take these Household Hazardous Wastes (HHW) to the collection facility run by Central Contra Costa Sanitary District
