Shell Ridge Planting Site Preparation


SPONSOR:
Walnut Creek Open Space Foundation

DESCRIPTION: Remove black mustard to prepare site for planting of native grasses. Create planting sites for acorns, buckeye seeds and native shrubs to be planted later this year.

LOCATION:
Deer Lake in Shell Ridge. Project Leader will contact volunteers in advance with instructions on where to meet.

NUMBER OF VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: 15

AGE REQUIREMENTS: Minimum age 12. Youth under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must walk half mile to site (mostly level). Clearing individual sites will require tool use and reasonable stamina.

VOLUNTEERS SHOULD BRING: Sunscreen, work clothing, hat, closed-toe shoes, water, and gardening or work gloves.
