More than 350 citizens and business owners participated in Sustainable Walnut Creek: Going Green Together on Oct. 20, 2007. The purpose of the conference was to share information and creative ideas on the various ways we as a community can improve the local and global environment, and to become inspired so that citizens and businesses might take action on their own. Dan Ashley with Mayor Sue Rainey
KGO-TV anchor Dan Ashley was emcee of the event, which also featured Bay Area Backroads host Doug McConnell, who narrated a presentation about things the City is already doing and things citizens and businesses have done to be more green at home and at work. Jan Berman of PG&E also spoke. Inspired by the successful Community Conversations program conducted in 2001, Sustainable Walnut Creek: Going Green Together gave 80 citizens an opportunity to break into small discussion groups to discuss ways the community can be more sustainable.
